To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the popular gardening magazine South African GARDEN AND HOME, this rose was selected for its exceptional performance in both the garden and as a source of cut flowers for the home.
The ‘Garden and Home’ rose combines the informal charm of old garden roses with the vigour and flowering power of modern varieties. It produces clusters of blooms on strong, upright, pickable stems.
Rounded buds open gradually into the classic cup shape of heritage roses, eventually revealing fully open blooms where the many petals and stamens are beautifully displayed. As the flowers develop, their colour subtly shifts—from a clear pink in bud and outer petals to warm tones of apricot and gold as they mature.
The fragrance is rich and appealing, with fruity and spicy notes.
The plant forms a healthy, chest-height bush with deep green, slightly textured foliage. It is versatile in the garden, performing well as a standalone feature, in groups or rows, or mixed with medium to tall hybrid teas and floribundas. It is also well suited to large containers.
