Nephrolepis Marisa Fern 14cm Pot
The Nephrolepis ‘Marisa’ Fern is a cultivar of the Nephrolepis exaltata, commonly known as the Boston Fern or Sword Fern. The ‘Marisa’ cultivar is a compact variety that is prized for its smaller size and delicate, finely divided fronds.
Appearance: The ‘Marisa’ Fern typically has fronds that grow to be around 30-45 cm long. The fronds are finely divided and have a feathery, lacy appearance. The overall plant size is smaller compared to some other Nephrolepis varieties.
Light and temperature: They thrive in bright, indirect light. It prefers temperatures that range between 15°C to 24°C. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate fronds.
Watering and humidity: This fern enjoys consistently moist soil but can be sensitive to overwatering. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly before watering again. It appreciates higher humidity levels, so misting the fronds or placing the plant on a humidity tray can be beneficial.
Soil and fertilisation: Plant the ‘Marisa’ Fern in well-draining potting soil that retains some moisture. You can use a balanced houseplant fertiliser at half-strength every two to four weeks during the growing season (spring to autumn) to provide nutrients.
Care tips: Regularly remove any yellow or brown fronds to keep the plant looking its best. The ‘Marisa’ Fern can benefit from occasional pruning to maintain its compact shape. Additionally, it’s important to be mindful of its watering needs and provide adequate humidity to prevent the fronds from drying out.
